CSULB stands for California State University, Long Beach. It is a public university located in Long Beach, California, United States. Semesters are used at California State University, Long Beach. At CSULB, a semester lasts 15 weeks. A fee-supported summer term and a fee-supported winter session are added on to each semester.

Classes for the autumn semester typically start in late August or early September. The last day of class normally occurs in the middle of December. This permits a week of final exams prior to the winter break, which starts in the middle of December.

The spring semester often starts in the final week of January and concludes in the middle of May, just in time for final exam week and commencement week shortly before or after Memorial Day. The summer semester runs from late June through late August.

7. Labor Day (campus closed) holiday is September 5, 2022, according to the CSULB holiday schedule 2022.
8. September 5, 2022 is the last day to add or drop classes without approval.
9. The deadline to add or swap a class without approval is September 5, 2022.
10. September 5, 2022 is the deadline to drop a class without receiving a W.
11. The deadline to drop and receive a refund for a reduction in calculated charges is September 5, 2022. All changes must be completed in MyCSULB Student Center by 10 p.m.
12. Withdraw (with approval only) period is from September 6, 2022 to November 18, 2022. Starting the third week of classes, you’ll need to submit a request to withdraw via MyCSULB Student Center. If approved, you’ll receive a W on your transcript for the class.
13. Permission to Add (with approval only) is on September 6, 2022. During the third week of classes, the approval of the class instructor and the department is required to add a class.
14. The Late Add (by exception only) period is from September 13, 2022 to September 19, 2022. During the fourth week of classes, you may only add a class if extenuating circumstances prevented you from enrolling before the deadline.
15. Grade Option Change Request Deadline is September 12, 2022. It is the deadline to change the grading option for a class to Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) or Audit (AU).
16. September 12, 2022 is the deadline to file credit by examination.
17. University Census is on September 19, 2022. Finalize your enrollment by this day. Enrollment as of this day is considered the official enrollment and is used for state reporting and select financial aid programs.

21. Catastrophic Withdrawals are from November 19, 2022 to December 9, 2022. Withdrawal during the final three weeks of instruction is not permitted unless there are serious and extenuating circumstances beyond your control that prevent you from continuing in your classes and incompletes are not possible.
22. CSULB Fall Break 2022 (no classes, campus open) is from Monday, November 21 to Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
23. Thanksgiving break (campus closed) is from Thursday, November 24 to Friday, November 25, 2022. The California State University, Long Beach’s Thanksgiving holiday immediately follow the fall break period.
24. Classes resume on Monday, November 28, 2022. Residential Halls Reopen/Meals Resume.

Academic year 2023 spring at CSULB

1. The application window or deadline for students graduating in Spring 2023 is from March 2, 2022 to October 15, 2022. The deadline to apply to graduate depends on the term you plan to graduate. Applications begin the year before your expected graduation term and end during the fall or spring term preceding your graduation date.
2. The California State University, Long Beach Spring 2023 Admission Applications open on August 1, 2022. It is the first day that applications are accepted.
3. August 31, 2022 is the Priority Application Deadline (New Students for Spring Only). Applications must be submitted by 10 p.m. If you submit your application after this day, you will not be eligible for CSULB or California state financial aid, but you may still be eligible for federal grants, loans, or other scholarships.
4. Lower-division transfer application deadline is August 31, 2022. It is open only for highly qualified applicants to Nursing by referral of the department.
5. Upper-division transfer application deadline is August 31, 2022, according to the CSULB academic calendar 2022-2023.
6. August 31, 2022 is the Second bachelor’s application deadline. It is open only for highly qualified applications to the following majors: Foreign languages, Nursing, Engineering, Natural Sciences (except Biological Sciences), and Math.
7. Returning CSULB students’ date is August 31, 2022. Students who have not attended another college or university since leaving CSULB.
8. Reinstatement (disqualified) CSULB students’ date is August 31, 2022. Students who are disqualified may return if they are approved for reinstatement.
9. Financial Aid Applications Open on October 1, 2022. It is the first day to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application for financial aid for the following academic year.
10. Award notifications are sent to new students at the beginning of October 2022.
11. The spring 2023 Schedule of Classes is available on October 3, 2022.
12. The undergraduate Admission Decisions period is Mid-October to November 2022. When an admission decision has been made, you will be notified by e-mail.
13. Continuing student registration begins on October 31, 2022. Registration appointment times are based on graduation status, class level, and units earned.
14. November 1, 2022 is the Residency Reclassification Deadline. It is the last day to submit the CSU Residence Questionnaire to be reclassified as a California resident for tuition purposes.
15. The teaching credential program’s application deadline is November 1, 2022.
16. Spring 2023 Housing Applications Opens at 10 AM on November 2, 2022, according to the CSULB academic calendar 2022-2023.
17. November 15, 2022 is the deadline to submit a non-refundable enrollment deposit.
18. New graduate student and returning student registration is in December 2022. New undergraduate student registration is also in December 2022. The New first-year and transfer students register at SOAR.
19. The undergraduate Waitlist Decisions period is between December 2022 and January 2023. Students who were originally placed on a waitlist will be notified by e-mail when an updated admission decision has been made.
20. Educational Leave Deadline is December 23, 2022. It is the last day to file an Application for Educational Leave for the semester.
21. December 31, 2022 is the deadline to submit the requested documents (New Students for Spring Only).
22. CSU Visitor/Concurrent Enrollment Deadline is January 1, 2023.
23. Petition for Exception to Maximum Unit Load is on January 2, 2023. On the first day, you can register for more than 18 units. An approved petition is required.
24. The waitlist Deadline is January 2, 2023. It is the last day of the waitlist auto-enrollment. After this date, waitlists are no longer used.
25. Winter Session 2023 is from Tuesday, January 3, 2023 to Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
26. The Spring 2023 Fee Payment Deadline is January 4, 2023. Fees are due 30 days after registration or by this deadline, whichever occurs first. Your payment due date is available on MyCSULB Student Center. If you register after this day, your fees will be due the next day. A $10 late payment fee will be assessed on balances past due after this day.
27. Disbursement begins on January 9, 2023. Most financial aid funds are applied toward any outstanding charges, including any instalment plans. The first possible date funds can be released is 10 days before the first day of classes each semester.
28. Martin Luther King, Jr’s Birthday observed (campus closed) is Monday, January 16, 2023, according to the CSULB holiday schedule 2023.
29. January 18, 2023 is the deadline to drop and receive a full refund. Drop all classes by this day to receive a full refund. Starting the first day of classes, students who drop all their classes will owe prorated fees based on the date of withdrawal.
30. Residence Halls Reopen on January 18, 2023.
31. CSULB New Spring Residents’ Move-In Day is January 18, 2023.
32. CSULB spring 2023 classes start on January 19, 2023. It is the first day of classes for the Spring Semester of 2023.
33. Open University Enrollment is on January 19, 2023, according to the CSULB academic calendar 2022-2023.
34. A $25 late registration fee will apply for initial registration starting on January 19, 2023 or later.
35. BeachScholarships Application Period is from January 19, 2023 to March 13, 2023. All new and continuing students may apply. Application periods are for scholarships to be provided during the indicated semester.

47. Classes resume on April 2, 2023 after spring break. Residence Halls Reopen at 10 am.
48. The 2023-2024 Academic Year Housing application opens at 10 am on April 5, 2023, according to the CSULB academic calendar 2023-2024.
49. The catastrophic Withdrawal period is from April 15 to May 5, 2023.
