DCB Commercial Bank

DCB Commercial Bank PLC  was established on September 6, 2001, and is a limited company. DCB began operating as a local microfinance institution in April 2002. A license to conduct banking operations under the name Dar es Salaam Community Bank Limited was granted to the bank on June 12, 2003. After just three years of existence, DCB achieved financial parity in 2005.

Tanzania's DCB became the country's first bank to float on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange in 2008. (DSE). Dar es Salaam Community Bank Plc was replaced by DCB Commercial Bank Plc in February 2012, and in July 2012, the bank received a license to conduct banking operations across the nation as a full-fledged Commercial Bank.

A privately owned, publicly traded microfinance institution, DCB was first founded to meet the banking requirements of the most impoverished residents of Dar es Salaam and its surrounding areas. DCB received a national banking license in 2012, enabling it to expand its services across the country. The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange lists the bank's stock.


The overall asset base of DCB was estimated to be worth TSh 143.97 billion (US$85.7 million) as of December 2013. The bank's shareholders' equity was then estimated to be at TSh 31.98 billion ($19 million). [3] At the end of 2013, customer deposits were TSh 80.3 billion, or roughly US$47.8 million.
