The top ten wealthiest cities in Africa have been ranked by the Africa Wealth Report.

According to the report backed by Mauritius-based banking group AfrAsia Bank, the cities have been ranked by total wealth held, which is the private wealth held by all of the residents of each city, including all of their assets (property, currency, equities, business interests) less any liabilities.

Top 10 wealthiest cities in Africa

The top ten wealthiest cities in Africa, as well as the number of High Net Worth Individuals, are mentioned below.

1. The city of Johannesburg

With an estimated wealth of $248 billion, the city of gold is Africa's richest. The JSE, which is located in Sandton, is where the majority of Johannesburg's wealth is concentrated (the largest stock market in Africa)

There are two billionaires in Johannesburg and about 16,000 millionaires.

2. The city of Cape Town

Apart from being the country's legislative capital, Cape Town is home to some of Africa's most opulent suburbs, including Clifton, Bantry Bay, Fresnaye, Llandudno, Camps Bay, Bishop's Court, and Constantia.
