When you click a tile, you'll discover that the contents are arranged in a side menu that is simple to use.

How to activate your CAESAR Northwestern account

As a result of their registration in CAESAR Northwestern, active members of the university community are given NetIDs. The admissions office or the student's school will provide them with their NetID Activation Code.

At Northwestern, you are identified electronically by your NetID. A NetID's most popular format consists of a string of three letters (typically your name-related) and three or four numbers. Your seven-digit student/employee number is different from your NetID.

The tools and resources at Northwestern are only accessible with your NetID. You can activate your NetID by heading to NUValidate after receiving an activation code from your department's NetID coordinator.

  1. Once you receive your NetID and activation code from your program’s admissions office, go to NUValidate at northwestern.edu/login. Contact your program’s admissions office if you don’t have your NetID and activation code.
  2. In the Username field, enter your NetID; in the Password field, enter the activation code, then click Login.
  3. Record answers to four security questions. In the future, if you happen to forget your password or accidentally let it expire, you’ll need to provide answers to two of your security questions to self-reset your password.
  4. Create your personalized NetID password.
  5. Once you’ve activated your NetID and recorded answers to security questions, you will then be directed to another website to activate your student email account.

How to reset your forgotten or expired password

Your NetID password needs to be changed once a year. If you are aware of your password and it is current and active, changing it is a simple process.

You'll need to change your NetID password if you've forgotten it or unintentionally let it expire without changing it. If you already know the answers to the security questions, self-resetting it is your easiest option.

  1. Go to Northwestern.edu/login to NUValidate.
  2. Click Forgot Password after entering your NetID and leaving the password blank.
  3. Give two security questions an answer.
  4. Click Submit after completing the password changing instructions.
